HORTICULTURE, HOMEART, OR PHOTOGRAPHY
Prior to fair
- Setting up display area
- Taking entries in display building
- Helping judges
- Setting up displays for fair
During fair
- Monitoring display area
- Coordinate area hosts
- On Sunday returning entries in orderly fashion
- Take down the display area
POSTERS, SIGNS, DECORATIONS
Prior to fair
- Work with convener to prepare signs and decorations
- Decorate the fair grounds
- Set up signs around city
After fair
- Take down signs and decorations and store for next year
PARADE
- Working directly with convener
- Helping with parade set up
- Organizing parade participants and entrants
- Traffic control
TAKE DOWN THE FAIR
- This occurs starting on Sunday of the fair
- Static displays are taken apart (horticulture, home arts, photography)
- Commercial display framing taken apart and stored
- Parking area is dismantled
- Barns are cleaned
- Landscaping cleaned up
GATES AND SECURITY
These areas are generally run by specific volunteer groups, if you belong to a group in one of these areas please make sure to enter the group name and a group contact on the application form.
CONVENOR
- A convener will oversee a specific area, coordinate volunteers in his/her area
- A convener should have some base knowledge in the area of their governorship
- See listing in prize book for specific areas
CONSTRUCTION, BUILDING REPAIRS
Prior to the fair
- This could be in any area of the fair
- Duties could include painting, building new displays, repairing displays
- Base carpentry, painting knowledge would be an asset in these areas

GARDENING, GROUNDS MAINTENANCE
Prior to the fair
- Lawn keeping including mowing and weed eating
- Watering
- Cleaning grounds
During fair
- Assisting landscape coordinator
After fair
- Assure all grounds are clean and items put away for next year
Agriculture Area
Volunteers required for all agriculture areas - rabbits, poultry, swine, cattle, sheet, goats, horses
Area hosts would be helpful for the rabbit barn, the poultry barn, 4-H/Dairy barn and horse barn areas
o Duties of area host would include answering questions from general public about their area, as well as other areas of the fair

- Assisting judges
- Keeping area maintained
- Assisting convener
After fair
- Clean barns
- Take down decorations and posters
AREA HOST
This would take place during the fair. You can state which area you would like to host. Areas that may be hosted include (but are not limited to)
- Horticulture / floriculture
- Sewing & crafts
- Photography and amateur art
- Barns (as listed under agriculture)
- Inside commercial display building
An area host would be responsible for answering questions from the public about the specific area and the displays inside, including demo times, show times, item locations. In addition a general knowledge of the fair would be needed to answer other general questions.
FAIR CAR TICKET SELLERS
This area is generally run by specific volunteer groups, if you belong to a group in one of these areas please make sure to enter the group name and a group contact on the application form.
GROUNDS CLEANUP
This is a large job during the fair. A group is required to do this job, and an small honorarium is paid to the group.
Duties include
- Garbage pickup throughout the grounds all four days of fair during the open hours of the grounds
- Cleanup of the grounds before the grounds open to the general public on Friday, Saturday and Sunday - garbage pickup
- Cleaning bathrooms through out the grounds during the open hours of the grounds
- Ensuring the bathrooms are clean and stocked with required supplies prior to the grounds opening on Friday, Saturday and Sunday
